My name is Koto Tagami and I am an international student at Thompson Rivers University. I came to Canada to improve my English and learn differences of cultures between Japan and other countries. I stayed in New Zealand for two years when I was a high school student. I could not speak English well and regretted that I could not tell people about anything of Japanese culture because of a lack of knowledge. I got frustrated about this. And yet, that frustration became a new motivation to study English and Japanese culture at the university. In Japan, I have learned Japanese culture especially Kyoto culture and tourism. I took an English class, and I focused on learning Kyoto culture in English to tell people from other countries about attractive places and Japanese culture. I wanted to try going overseas again. For these reasons, I thought this study abroad program is a fantastic opportunity for me to output what I have done so far.

Now, I am staying with my host family, and it is a good chance to experience Canadian culture. I am sure that I am building a good relationship with them, and I am going to miss them when I leave Canada. I would like to make wonderful memories in Canada. I believe many things I learn in Canada will be treasure in my future. Therefore, I would like to live in a moment and challenge everything as much as possible.
